Facilities include a 4D type runway (non precision instrument approach) and auxiliary installations to accommodate an estimated traffic of 1 million passengers/year (year 2015), principally tourists using chartered flights. Site selection was made among three alternative locations, using technical, financial, environmental impact assessment, and social impact evaluation criteria.
