Master Plan, Subdivision Plans and Infrastructure Designs for an estate of 23 hectares. The design brief was for 103 individual residential plots; these were to be supported by community facilities to create a resort estate with a certain degree of functional autonomy. In order to protect the outstanding natural environment of the site, an extensive use of pedestrian paths was opted for by the design team as the most suitable system of access and circulation. As in similar examples successfully tried by Doxiadis Associates, pedestrian paths are wide enough to accommodate vehicular movement when this becomes necessary. A considerable amount of the site was very steep to be built upon. Consequently, a lot of open spaces are created, which can then be suitably developed and add to the attractiveness of the development. Residential development is supported by a small shopping centre that opens up towards a central square, playgrounds and sports grounds. In the context of master plan preparation, preliminary designs and cost estimates for all infrastructure networks were also carried out by Doxiadis Associates.
