Sindh Secondary Cities Development Planning and Institutional Support - PAKISTAN

This multi-faced project addressed the alleviation of degraded living conditions experienced in nine secondary cities of the Sindh Province. Consultancy services included: direct support for development planning; preparation of structure plans for each city; assistance in strengthening the overall municipal administration, resource mobilisation and financial management; direct support for the formulation of an investment package in the sectors of housing (with particular emphasis for the poor and shelterless), social and community development, water supply, sewerage and solid waste management; on-the-job training of national counterparts in the previously mentioned areas; assistance in strengthening provincial urban planning systems, urban sector economic planning, project appraisal processes, environmental planning within a management framework; budgeting and resource allocation.
