Islamabad / Rawalpindi Metropolitan Area Planning and Development Consultancy - PAKISTAN

Assistance to the Capital Development Authority for the revision and updating of the Master Plan of Islamabad (present population 390,000 inh.) originally elaborated by Doxiadis Associates in the 1960s, and recent in-house reviews undertaken by CDA. The assignment also included: definition of policies for low-income housing in Islamabad and within its wider area, establishment of guidelines for environmental protection; metropolitan structure plan and recommended environment management mechanisms; regional planning; past efforts and parameters of a future regional study; examination of the wider regional scale of development, evaluation of the regional planning efforts undertaken up to that point in time, drawing up of requirements for a future regional/metropolitan study; specific issues for implementation.
