Technical Assistance for the Development of the Cato Manor Residential Area in Durban- SOUTH AFRICA

Technical Assistance mission to the Cato Manor Development Association, a semi-public corporation entrusted with the development of a 1,800 ha site within the Durban Metro Area for the upgrading of existing squatter areas and development of new low income housing communities as part of an initiative to improve the living conditions of the deprived sections of the South Africa society. The study was sponsored by the Commission of the European Communities who participated in this important effort - one of the selected Presidential Lead Projects - with a grant of ECU 22 mill., towards the development of needed collective facilities, such as schools, health centres, vocational training centres and supporting technical infrastructure.
