The project required an extensive application of Geographic Information System (G.I.S.) technology. A data base was created according to specifications issued by the Ministry of Agriculture; the data base was then populated with all information collected through forms filled-in by of the olive and grape producers registered the study area. The agricultural lots were digitized, and had their location and coding marked in an AutoCAD Map environment. The olive trees were then digitized and coded per lot; a quality control procedure followed to confirm the input. The lot as an entity, with its characteristics and data for updating the alphanumeric database were the following step, which connected the two databases. Finally, all different sections were printed and dispatched to the producers through the DWF Composer program.
