This project was awarded to Doxiadis Associates after a public bidding process. It called for dual development - rehabilitation actions on two distant areas in Athens, i.e. a) the construction of modern sports facilities for the Panathinaikos Sports Club to the area of Eleonas / Votanikos area; this area, according to the provisions of the Greater Athens Regional Plan, will be transformed from an industrial and trade zone to a well-planned area with contemporary sports facilities, ample communal and green spaces, and central operations buildings. The project scope comprises a football stadium with a 40.000 spectator capacity, underground parking facilities for 450 cars, as well as a roofed sports complex of 7.500 sq.m. total area; b) The removal of the Panathinaikos Sports Club sports facilities currently existing in the Leoforos Alexandras area, and the transformation of that site into a new major green spaces / recreational urban center. There is also the provision for the construction of a Sports Museum and an underground parking facility for 700 cars.
Doxiadis Associates acting The Technical Consultant, provided the following services to the Client:
i) Review and assessment of the football stadium studies,
ii) Assistance to the Client for the rest of the sports facilities,
iii) Progress Monitoring of all infrastructure works to be executed by the Ministry of Public Works and other state companies and provision of regular updates to the Client,
iv) Provision of assistance of the Panathinaikos Sports Club for the preliminary design phase of the architectural studies of its sports facilities,
v) Monitoring of studies costs,
vi)Assistance to the Client during presentations and promotion of the project to the media and the general public.
